Gilgit Baltistan – A Place of Fervor

Depicting every individual’s desire for unattainable wishes..

People have been writing, reading, and experiencing Gilgit Baltistan in a very conventional manner. You can easily find many books written to elaborate on the geographical aspects of the region. Focusing on its snow-capped and rough mountains. Many mention its towns and famous mountains there in a very frivolous manner – Rakaposhi, Passu Peak, Ultra Peak, Kuksel Sar, Ladyfinger, Hooper glacier, Diran Peak standing tall in Minapin.

But a little do people know is the magic in that region. Magic that keeps you longing to go back and be away from all this super-facial world. Magic that absorbs deep into your soul and vibrates to such energy that no one can comprehend. Magic – that frees your soul from any worldly desires and makes it float to its highest. Gilgit Baltistan lets you breathe and be heard. It puts the lifelong desire for peace to end. The mountains, the serene views of its beautiful lakes, ever so friendly and welcoming people, beautiful old souls smiling at you when you cross paths with them, the steady voice of the flowing gigantic waterfalls and lakes, the friendly animals, bowing trees offering their fruit, air filled with sweet giggles of the curious children – everything eases your heart and puts your soul at rest.

Many people have been traveling to find the unknown. To chase something. To run away from themselves. Traveling does help everyone with any of their targets and dreams in life about their souls. Yet the one thing that everyone missed to notice is that it’s not every time that we decide to go someplace. Well, we do plan a lot in life, yet we find the opportunities as and when we’ve been called by that place.

But – We humans.

Oh! The highest-ranking creature on this planet.

We, humans, believe that it’s us who are the strongest, smartest, intelligent, it’s us who decide where to go, what to eat, what to experience, but the reality is – we cannot merely visit a place without its permission, without it’s calling. Like many spiritual scholars had been sharing from time to time and trying to enlighten our sad, ignorant souls. If we do some research, we come to realize that every great leader/ scholar/ spiritual being that walked this planet – taught us the very same thing that it’s the universe we must listen to. It’s the universe we must let embrace our souls and only then we can know the veracity of our being and hear the cry of our soul.

Well! as everyone is aware of the serene beauty of northern areas of Pakistan. Gilgit Baltistan is far from what it has been described. It’s not a mere beautiful place but energy. All magic – for the ones with eyes to see and heart to feel. It calls upon you. To find bits and pieces. To be healed. To be…… loved.

It’s a spiritual place. It speaks to the chosen ones. The cold chill embraces your tortured soul with all the love and ensures you that it’s there for you. The fine breeze tells you that you are free to live, to love. The mountains and the fresh flowing water take away all your fears and tell you to spread your wings and fly.  The goats and animals, tell you that life is so blithe. You just have to let yourself go with the flux and you’ll be amazed that how Almighty makes the ride so much fun for you.

It’s not just a tourist’s spot. It’s a whole world embraced in so many unpredictable magical layers.  You unfold one and you find completely new magic underneath. Gilgit Baltistan is the ultimate serene for lost souls. Nagar, a town in Gilgit Baltistan, is very well known to a certain class of Pakistan. But they fail to understand something that defines this place – its purity.  It’s ultimate closeness to the stars. The vibes, the aura, are nothing but pure magic.

The serenity of the place lies in its true bliss of nature. Without even realizing it, one gets enchanted by its mystical pull and the soul lets go of this material body. No more locked in any cage. No more enslaved by the boundaries of the society. No human ties, pulling it down. Life seems to come to an unexpected cessation there – stopped but not suffocated. It’s free of all worries and material desires. It gets filled with nothing but love.

I have never seen stars so vincinal and so immense. Clear skies and the reflection of the moon in water makes the whole ambiance so mystical and empowering.

Gulmit – not far from Hunza. But a place of people with taste and respect. A place to learn yet another culture of humanity and integrity. A place to get lost and then be found after being turned to gold. A place to learn about the history and feel being in that era while exploring the artifacts and the ruins of the palaces. One travels through time while walking through the old narrow – but clean – streets marked with old, stone walls and handcrafted wooden windows. The tiny, stone structured houses tell a completely different stories of their time and life of villagers. The pure mountain water flowing through every street, crossing every house in tiny passages – keeps every traveler hydrated and energetic. Star fruits keep every traveler full and in high spirits to keep exploring this mesmerizing village and it’s beautiful history.

Life in Gilgit Baltistan might be somewhat difficult for some people or for the locals to some extent due to its extreme weather and next to no facilities. But the fact stays there that this land calls you. One can only visit if this land allows that certain individual to set foot on its territory. Some might differ from this theory of mine as many have their own experiences and beliefs but when we sit back and think about it then we will see that this theory is somewhat true.

Late night walk under full moon. Gulmit
